Virginia F. Rogers, 84, died August 1, 2009. She was the wife of the late Fielding P. Rogers, with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. Born in Salem on September 12, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Alfred LaChance and Florence Carr Barnett and lived in Salem until the time of her marriage. A longtime resident of Hamilton, Mrs. Rogers recently moved to her daughter Caroline’s home in Essex. Traveling, decorating, and entertaining were her favorite hobbies. She adored her family and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughters Caroline Gallivan of Essex, MA, Susan and Robert Jaremsek of Essex, Ma, Pamela Hayes of Barnstead, N.H. and her son Calvin and MaryEllen Rogers of Phoenix, Az., her grandchildren,Catherine and Scott Frost of Beverly, Edward "Ted" Gallivan of Ipswich, Tanya and Owen Sperry of Colorado, Rob Jaremsek of NC, Melissa and Mike Howard of S. Berwick, ME, Clement and Kim Hayes of Bow, N.H., Siobahaun and Carl Plummer of Pittsfield, N.H., and Taylor Rogers of AZ, her nephew Douglas and Teresa LaChance of West Gloucester, her nieces Jane LaChance of Beverly, Deb LaChance of Newburyport and Lisa LaChance of Montana, and nineteen great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband she was also predeceased by her brother Leonard and his wife Dorothy and her dear son-in-law Edward Gallivan. A memorial service to celebrate Mrs. Roger’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 24,2009 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, St. Peter’s St., Salem. Relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Rogers' name may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.
