William A. Dzierzek, 80, died Tuesday morning, September 8, 2009 in his home following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Priscilla (Coffin) Dzierzek, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Danvers on Oct. 14, 1928, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Dlegias) Dzierzek. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School, where he was Class President of the Class of 1946. A football standout, he was a captain of the school’s football team and went on to play for the Danvers Town Team. Mr. Dzierzek owned and operated his own construction business, Con-Arc, Inc., as well as his real estate management business, Fairmont Realty. A lifelong Danvers resident, he was a past trustee of Danvers Savings Bank and a member of Danvers Rotary for over 25 years. He enjoyed his time with the Rotary Ski Team and the annual Rotary-Kiwanis Bocci Tournament. A former town meeting member, he was an active member of the “Seven Percenters”. Bill had a great interest in the Danvers YMCA’s facilities and programs. He was involved with many of the Y’s building and renovation projects. Starting in the late 60s he planned and built the Howard Lee Auditorium and Program Wing, he went on to serve as designer and general contractor for a number of other renovations and additions and was always quick to volunteers his time assisting with YMCA projects. Bill enjoyed skiing and sailing with his friends and long summer weekends at his lake home in New Hampshire surrounded by his children and grandchildren In addition to his wife, he leaves his children and their spouses, Pamela and Andrew Anderson of North Andover, Kathleen and James Clements of Brentwood, NH, and Kenneth and Maria Dzierzek of Topsfield, eight grandchildren, Philip Dudovicz, Christina, Cynthia, and Michael Clements, Nicole and Stephanie Anderson, and Amy and David Dzierzek, four sisters, Rose Bolognese of Malden, Frances Kaspryzk of Peabody, Helen Welch of Danvers, and Sophie Morris of VA, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Edward Dzierzek and the late John Dzierzak. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 11, 2009 at 9AM in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton. Visiting hours are Thursday from 4-8PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square.
