William E. Channell, 92, died Friday, August 29, 2014. He was the husband of the late Rita (Legere) Channell, with whom he shared sixty-two years of marriage. Born in Revere on Dec. 29, 1921, he was the son of the late Edward and Margaret (Butler) Channell. He was raised and educated in Revere and was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1939. He went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Bill was employed by New England Telephone, working in Everett, Malden, and Danvers until his retirement after 37 years. A Danvers resident since 1953 and a communicant of Saint Richard Church, he was active at the Danvers & Peabody senior centers where he was a member of the wood carving clubs. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed skiing, biking, scuba diving, and sailing in the sailboat he built. He loved traveling in his motor home with his wife. Bill had a lifelong passion for photography, and currently had been a master in PhotoShop He is survived by a son, Bill Channell and his wife Kathy of Epping, NH, his daughter Linda Biello and her husband Dominic of Belmont, NH, and two grandchildren, Christopher and Ann Marie Biello. He was predeceased by his siblings, Norman Channell and Mary Davis. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 5, 2014 at 10AM in Saint Richard Church, 90 Forest St., Danvers. Burial will follow in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. As requested, there are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Monastery of St. Clare, 445 River Rd., Andover, MA 01810. We here at American Legion Post 51 in Epping NH, mourn the passing of William Channell. , When a veteran passes, we feel that our nation is lessend…..how do we lose such a hero and keep on going? It is because he taught his family to respect and honor our country…he met his beautiful wife when he was just a kid……and they were together for the rest of their lives…My Friend Bill is a member of our Post……A veteran like his Dad…..We will remember him as a comrade and as the hero he was.
