William E. Lee, 90, of Wenham, died Sunday afternoon, September 18, 2022, at his home in Wenham surrounded by his beloved family. He was the husband of Marilyn (Smith) Lee, with whom he shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Danvers on Oct. 10, 1931, he was the son of the late Howard and Hilda (Spence) Lee. He was raised and educated in Danvers and was a graduate of Holten High School. Bill would later earn a bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University and raced for its ski team eventually becoming the team’s coach. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy in the Suez Canal, returned home and worked alongside his father and brother in the operation of Hotwatt incorporated. A true labor of love, Bill owned and operated the family company for more than six decades. Later in his career, he was glad to go to work beside his son every day. A Wenham resident for nearly fifty years, he was a longtime member of the Danvers Rotary Club and an active board member of the Danvers YMCA. A man who loved both the ocean and the mountains, Bill’s taste for adventure brought him flying over New England, sailing across the Atlantic and skiing around the world and he shared these passions with his two sons. In recent years, one of his greatest pleasures was the lunches he shared with his sons in his semi-retirement. In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons, Andrew Lee of Gloucester and Jeremy Lee of Danvers, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Robert Lee and Nancy Peel. Visiting hours will be Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 3-6PM in C.R. Lyons & Sons Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers Square. Relatives and friends are invited. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Danvers YMCA, 34 Pickering St., Danvers, MA 01923. 1. I love this! I worked at Hotwatt for a long time, I worked there in the office when Hotwatt first got hooked up to computers. I started out in the rope department and worked myself up. The best company you could ever work for.. RIP Bill Lee, I remember you fondly. Thinking of your family. Fondly, June (Henderson) Lentine..
