William P. “Sonny” Flynn, Jr. 81, of Hampstead, New Hampshire, died on December 30, 2012 in Parkland Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Barbara L. (Casey) Flynn with whom he shared 58 years of marriage. Born in Danvers on July 16, 1931, he was the son of the late William P. and Beatrice (Cleveland) Flynn. He was raised and educated in Danvers. Sonny served our country during the Korean War with the United States Army and was honorably discharged. He had worked for the Town of Danvers as a heavy equipment operator for the Highway Division and the Forestry Division for over 25 years. He also worked at the Hogan Center and the Danvers Police Department as a custodian for several years. Sonny was a former member of the Knights of Columbus and V.F.W. in Danvers. Besides his wife Barbara, he is survived by two sons, Michael P. Flynn and his husband Brian Doyle of Hampstead, NH and Timothy J. Flynn and his wife Brenda Santisi-Flynn of Danvers, a sister Constance Cappos of Danvers, a nephew Jeffrey Johnson, grandchildren, Christopher Fuller, Amanda Santisi, Paul Santisi, Dawn Sudano and David MacGibbon and 7 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Kevin J. Flynn. Visiting hours are Thursday, January 3, 2012 from 4-8PM at C.R. Lyons & Sons, Funeral Directors, 28 Elm St., Danvers. Relatives and friends are invited. Funeral Services are private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his name to Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA, 01923.
